Why to do the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek?
The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, also known as Annapurna Sunrise Trekking or Annapurna Panorama Trekking, is a popular and relatively easy trek that winds through the beautiful ethnic villages of the Annapurna Region. The trek takes you through some of the biggest Rhododendron jungles in the world and allows you to experience the local culture. The trek is well facilitated and a popular choice among trekkers. Additionally, you get to witness the view of the deepest gorge in the world.
Popularly known as the Photographer’s Paradise, this trek offers some of the best views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Poon Hill provides a striking panorama of the huge Himalayas, including Annapurna South, Annapurna I, II, III, and IV, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, Gangapurna, and Manaslu ranges, among others.
The sunrise from Poon Hill is a must-see. It offers a mesmerizing glimpse of the high mountains surrounding you and can leave anyone in awe.
Moreover, the trek allows you to witness terraced slopes, warm villages, beautiful paddy fields, and the unique culture and lifestyle of ethnic communities like Gurungs and Magars. Ghorepani and Ghandruk are two of the largest Gurung settlements in the Annapurna Region. Trekking in the Annapurna foothills and visiting these charming settlements is a unique pleasure for anyone who loves the outdoors.”
ITINERARY:
Day 1: Our trekking guide will pick up you from your hotel at 7 am and then drive to Birethanti, which will take around 1 hour and 20 minutes. From Birethanti, start your trek to Hille, which will take about 3 to 3.5 hours. The trek offers scenic views of hills, lush green forests, and rivers.
Day 2: Start early and trek from Hille to Ghorepani. The trek takes around 5.5 to 6 hours and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes.
Day 3: Rise early and trek up to Poon Hill to catch a sunrise view and enjoy the stunning mountain scenery. After spending some time there, trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani, which will take about 5 to 5.5 hours. The trail passes through beautiful forests of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo.
Day 4: After breakfast, trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk, which takes about 3.5 to 4 hours. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and traditional Gurung village along the way.
Day 5: After breakfast continues a downhill trek of 14km to Nayapool on steep narrow trails through rice paddies fields and a hotter climate for 5/6hrs and finally drive back to Pokhara from there, which will take around 1 hr 20 minutes.
