The Annapurna Base Camp trek via Ghorepani and Jhinu Danda offers a diverse and scenic journey through the Annapurna region. Starting with a trek to Ghorepani, you’ll experience stunning sunrise views over the Himalayas from Poon Hill (3,210m), followed by a scenic route through lush rhododendron forests and traditional villages. The trek gradually ascends to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m), providing breathtaking close-up views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Hiunchuli. On the return journey, relax in the natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda before descending to Pokhara. This route blends natural beauty, cultural experiences, and adventure, making it an unforgettable trekking experience.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek
ITINERARY:

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Birethanti (1,570 m) – Trek to Ulleri (2,020 m)

Duration: Approx. 1 hour drive

Duration: Approx. 4 to 5 hours walk

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Birethanti, offering views of terraced fields and the serene Bhurungdi Khola River. Once we reach Birethanti, the trek starts. We pass through charming villages like Thikedhunga, Sudame, and Hile before reaching Ulleri, perched at 2,020 meters. The trek takes around 4-5 hours, setting the tone for an unforgettable journey.

Day 2: Trek from Ulleri (2,020 m) to Ghorepani (2,860 m)

Duration: Approx. 3 to 4 hours walk / Challenging Section: 3,000 steps

Today, you’ll conquer a challenging climb up 3,000 steps as we ascend from Ulleri to Ghorepani. Though steep, the rewards are immense, with stunning views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) along the way. The dense rhododendron forests add to the beauty, making the ascent worthwhile. Upon reaching Ghorepani, a village with breathtaking panoramic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Day 3: Sunrise Hike to Poon Hill, then Trek to Chuile (2,309 m)

Duration: Approx. 4 to 5 hours walk

Rise early for a stunning sunrise hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m), where you’ll witness spectacular views of over 32 Annapurna peaks, including Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhre. After soaking in the beauty, we return to Ghorepani for breakfast before continuing our trek to Tadapani, passing through Deurali and Band Thanthi. If time permits, we’ll push on to Chuile for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Trek from Chuile (2,309 m) to Sinuwa (2,360 m)

Duration: Approx. 5 hours walk

Today’s trek takes us through peaceful forests filled with rhododendrons and oak trees. We make our way towards Sinuwa, enjoying the tranquility and majestic views of the surrounding mountains. This serene village offers a quiet rest spot before the next leg of our trek.

Day 5: Trek from Sinuwa (2,360 m) to Deurali (3,200 m)

Duration: Approx. 6 to 7 hours walk

We begin with a gentle ascent from Sinuwa, traversing dense rhododendron, bamboo, and oak forests. Along the way, we pass through the small settlement of Bamboo before the forest thins out and we make our way to Deurali (3,200 m). The stunning views of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna greet us as we approach the entrance to the Annapurna Sanctuary, the gateway to even more breathtaking vistas.

Day 6: Trek from Deurali (3,200 m) to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m)

Duration: Approx. 5 hours walk

Today, we trek deeper into the Annapurna Sanctuary, following the Modi Khola Glacier Valley. The path takes us through forests, past Hinku Cave, and leads us to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m). From here, we continue to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), where we are surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the world, including Annapurna I-IV, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu. The views are awe-inspiring, and you’ll have time to take it all in before spending the night in the heart of the sanctuary.

Day 7: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) to Bamboo (2,310 m)

Duration: Approx. 8 to 9 hours walk

After an unforgettable night at ABC, we begin our descent back through the Modi River Valley. As we retrace our steps, the scenery changes, showcasing lush forests and beautiful landscapes. Our destination for the day is Bamboo, a peaceful village where we’ll rest for the night.

Day 8: Trek from Bamboo (2,310 m) to Jhinu Danda (1,780 m) – Natural Hot Springs

Duration: Approx. 6 to 7 hours walk

From Bamboo, we continue our journey towards Jhinu Danda. After descending to Kimrong Khola, we ascend through dense oak and rhododendron forests. Jhinu Danda is famous for its natural hot springs, where you can relax and rejuvenate your tired muscles while enjoying the scenic surroundings.

Day 9: Trek from Jhinu Danda (1,780 m) to Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi (1,940 m) – Drive back to Pokhara (820 m)

Duration:  Approx. 2 to 3 hours walk

Duration: 2 to 3 hours drive

On the final day, we take a relaxing trek from Jhinu Danda to Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi. The trail follows the Modi Khola River, offering beautiful views of the landscape. After 2-3 hours of trekking, we reach the end of the trail and drive back to Pokhara, reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve just completed.
